Webinar: Automotive Sector – Skills and Transformation

27-05-2020

Online

The webinar considers the challenges faced in meeting skill needs in the automotive sector and points to how they might be addressed, as well as discussing actions promoted by the European Commission to address these needs.

This online event will lead up to a high-level conference which will be held in Brussels on 23 September 2020

Given the need to reschedule the High-Level Conference “Skills and Transformation of the EU’s Automotive Sector” to September 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak and the consequent travel restrictions / containment measures put in place by Member States (including Belgium), the European Commission has decided to launch a webinar on 27 May 2020 (the date in which the conference was originally scheduled).

The webinar will be an opportunity to discuss the main findings of the following EU-funded projects and discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the prospects for upskilling and reskilling in the automotive sector.

  • The ”Development and Research on Innovative Vocational Educational Skills”(DRIVES) project, launched by means of an Erasmus+ initiative. It aims at delivering human capital solutions through the establishment of an Automotive Sector Skills Alliance, covering all levels of the value chain. Project results available at: https://www.project-drives.eu/en/results
  • The project “Towards a common vision on addressing SMEs skills needs in the automotive sector: strengthening the development of upskilling and reskilling strategies” by means of the COSME Programme.
